When One Person Heals, the Whole Family Recovers

A 35-bed Avondale campus founded by a clinician in long-term recovery — built around the simple truth that addiction touches everyone in the household, so recovery has to reach them too.

YSB Addiction Treatment facility

A Treatment Center That Holds the Whole Family

YSB Addiction Treatment opened on Buckeye Road in 2010, founded by Marco Esquivel after fifteen years of his own active opioid addiction and the long climb to long-term sobriety that followed. Marco had spent two of his sober years working as a peer counselor at three different Phoenix-area programs — and each time, he watched families pulled apart by treatment plans that ignored the spouses, parents, and adult children left holding the pieces.

YSB was built to be the program he wished had existed when he was a husband and father trying to come home from his own recovery. Sixteen years later, our 35-bed West Phoenix campus has supported more than 4,500 alumni — and every one of those treatment plans involves the family from day one.

Why Choose YSB

Family in the Room From Day One

Most programs add a family session in week three. We start with the family in the assessment. Spouses, parents, and adult children meet your clinical team in the first week — because addiction never happened to one person, and recovery does not either.

Founded by Someone Who Has Been There

Marco Esquivel built YSB after his own fifteen-year opioid addiction and the long climb back. The peer-accountability culture, the community-reintegration focus, and the second-chance philosophy — all of it is shaped by a clinician who has sat on both sides of the table.

Second Chances Are Not Optional

Roughly 47% of our 2024 admissions had tried treatment before. We treat prior attempts as clinical data, not character flaws — and we adjust your plan based on what worked, what did not, and what you have learned about yourself in the meantime.

Community Reintegration Built In

Our alumni mentorship program connects you with someone who completed treatment 2 to 5 years ago and now lives in the Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear, or West Phoenix area. They walk with you through the first year out — not as a sponsor, but as a peer who knows the same neighborhoods.

Motivational Enhancement, Not Confrontation

The "tough love" interventionist model is rarely what actually moves the needle. Our clinicians are trained in motivational interviewing and motivational enhancement therapy — meeting you in your ambivalence, not arguing with it.

16 Years, 4,500+ Alumni

YSB has supported recovery for more than 4,500 individuals and families across the West Valley since 2010. We measure ourselves by sustained sobriety, restored relationships, and alumni who come back as peer mentors — not by referral volume.

Voices From the YSB Family

"My sister drove me to YSB and I was furious the whole way. I was certain treatment would be another lecture from someone who had never been on my side of the table. By week two I realized Marco and the counselors were not arguing with me — they were asking different questions than I had heard before. I finished residential ten months ago and I still cannot believe I am the same person who refused to get out of the car that first morning."

— Antonio R., Residential Alumni, October 2025

"My husband had been to two other programs before YSB. Both times I sat in waiting rooms and signed paperwork while strangers tried to fix him in isolation. YSB pulled me in from the first phone call — not as a witness, but as part of the recovery plan. The family-systems sessions taught me how I had been part of the problem too, and how to be part of the solution this time. He has been sober eighteen months. We are also both still in couples counseling, and that is the best gift YSB gave us."

— Carmen O., Spouse of YSB Alumni, January 2026

"I lost my kids twice to the State during my drinking. By the time I called YSB I had already failed three programs and my mother had stopped answering my calls. The team here did not pretend my history did not exist — but they also refused to let it be the end of my story. The family-rebuilder track helped me show up for my daughters in ways I had never managed before. I have custody again, my mom comes for Sunday dinner, and I have been sober for nineteen months."

— Daria K., Residential & Family Track Alumni, December 2025
